Liora Women’s Clinic, a fertility-focused medical institution, has signed a research collaboration agreement with Kai Health to jointly advance R&D on AI solutions for infertility treatment. Through this partnership, the two organizations plan to collaborate not only on developing infertility AI solutions, but also on clinical validation of an AI model for embryo selection.

Globally, about one in six couples experiences infertility, and a key factor in successful infertility treatment is creating, selecting, and transferring high-quality embryos. Currently, embryo selection often relies on subjective judgment based on microscopy and clinical experience. In contrast, Kai Health’s data-driven AI approach is expected to improve both the accuracy and objectivity of identifying embryos with a higher likelihood of pregnancy, potentially reducing the time and cost required to achieve pregnancy.

Il-hae Park, Director of Liora Women’s Clinic, said, “Liora Women’s Clinic continues to work on improving pregnancy outcomes through diverse research and broad academic activities. Through this partnership with Kai Health, we expect that adopting AI-based embryo selection technology will help improve pregnancy outcomes and support infertility couples in achieving pregnancy in a shorter period of time.”

Hyejun Lee, CEO of Kai Health and a former infertility specialist OB-GYN, said, “One of the most effective ways to address low birth rates is to help infertility couples have a baby,” adding, “I hope to contribute to improving infertility treatment success rates using data and AI, and to help more couples build healthy families.”

Liora Women’s Clinic, established in Busan in 2018, is described as a fertility-focused institution with strong clinical and research capabilities, including multiple OB-GYN specialists and a research institute staffed by researchers with advanced degrees, as well as well-equipped facilities and systems serving the Busan and Gyeongnam region.

Kai Health is described as a company developing AI solutions aimed at improving success rates in infertility treatment. Based on data from more than 20 hospitals in Korea and abroad, the company developed AI algorithms that help identify embryos with a higher likelihood of pregnancy, and it has obtained medical device certifications in Europe and Singapore. The company is also conducting domestic clinical trials to pursue medical device certification in Korea, and plans to expand as a family-tech company providing solutions across infertility, pregnancy, and contraception.
