Kai Health, an AI Embryo Solution Startup, Secures Pre-Series A Funding

Kai Health, a startup developing an AI solution for infertility care, announced on the 5th that it has successfully secured Pre-Series A funding. Kai Health is developing Korea’s first AI solution aimed at improving success rates in infertility treatment. Based on data from more than 20 hospitals in Korea, the United States, and Malaysia, the company developed an AI algorithm that helps identify embryos with a higher likelihood of pregnancy and has obtained European medical device certification.
The round included new investments from IMM Investment and SBVA (formerly SoftBank Ventures Asia), alongside existing investors Smilegate Investment and Translink Investment. The company did not disclose the total amount raised to date. Following this funding, Kai Health plans to focus on global expansion of its flagship solution, Vita Embryo.
Kai Health positions Vita Embryo as an AI solution for infertility couples, designed to help select the optimal embryo during the IVF process to increase the chance of pregnancy. The company said it obtained European medical device certification for Vita Embryo last year.
Hyejun Lee, CEO of Kai Health and a former infertility specialist OB-GYN, said, “To address low birth rates, one of the most effective approaches is to help couples who urgently want to have a baby,” adding, “Through this investment, we hope to obtain MFDS certification and actively pursue global expansion so we can help more infertility couples have a healthy baby.”
Yeo-jung Moon, Managing Director at IMM Investment and also an OB-GYN by training, said, “As the age at childbirth rises and family structures diversify, the need for infertility treatment is gradually increasing,” adding, “Kai Health is the first infertility solution company in Asia and has been rapidly accumulating data and expanding partnerships, so we decided to invest based on our view that it has global competitiveness.”
Kai Health said it is currently pursuing MFDS medical device certification through domestic clinical trials. The company added that it plans to establish itself as a family-tech company providing solutions across infertility, pregnancy, and contraception.
